Gerovital Sun SPF 50 face cream review

Hello ladies!

Mica introducere

Rezultat
Previne apariÅ£ia intoleranÅ£elor solare ÅŸi îmbătrânirea prematură a pielii  (deshidratare excesivă, pete pigmentare, fotodermatoze etc). Formulare hipoalergenică.

Ingrediente active

Textura

Quick pros and cons:

Detaliere:

EN: I suppose that there aren't many people that are not aware of the negative effects of prolonged and unprotected exposure to sunlight and how important is to use sun screen all year round, not just in the summer, but in winter as well (during winter you would use sun screen for your face and maybe hands but in summer it is important to apply sun screen all over your body, covered by clothes or not). It is very important to choose teh level of sun screen according to our skin color and ladies with fair skin, don't think that if you're using a high SPF you won't get tanned, wrong! You will slowly and surely get tanned, avoiding the appearance of dark spots, freckles and other sun irritations, and most of all, you won't elevate the risk of developing skin cancer.

Little introduction:

I know we're just getting in the final month of summer, but usually it's the hottest one and the month a lot of you choose to go on vacation and today I want to tell you about the SPF cream that I have used this summer and been using constantly for the last couple of months: Gerovital Sun Anti-aging face cream with SPF 50. I'm just gonna skip the chit chat this time and get right into the review.

Product description:

Skin type
It is recommended especially for persons with sensitive skin, predisposed to develop sun allergies as it is an excellent protective shield against premature aging caused by sun radiations.

Action
It can be successfully used to prevent sun intolerances, pigment spots, photodermatosis etc. It has a light, gel-cream formula, a moisturizing texture, with no greasy effect, water- and perspiration-proof, perfume, paraben and oxybenzone free, with mineral filters in its composition ensuring high and balanced protection against UVA/UVB. The formula is rich in shea butter and pomegranate seed oil. Hypoallergenic formula.
It complies with EU recommendations concerning the protection against harmful effects of UVA/UVB radiations.

Result
It prevents sun intolerances and skin premature ageing (excessive dehydration, pigment spots, photodermatosis etc). Hypoallergenic formula.

Active ingredient
Pomegranate seed oil - an extremely rich and nutritious oil, which may be used internally or externally for its cosmetic and medicinal properties. Pomegranate seed extract and juice have been popular lately for their anti-oxidant properties, and pomegranate seed oil is proving to be even more beneficial. Not only does pomegranate seed oil contain high levels of anti-oxidants that fight free radicals and skin aging, but the oil is also a potent source of punicic and ellagic acids. Because of these properties, pomegranate seed oil is used to heal, protect, and moisturize dry, cracked, mature, and irritated skin, bring elasticity back to the skin, and for eczema and other skin problems.

Texture
They say light, gel-cream like but it's not light and more of a dens cream like (as most of the SPF 50 creams, except for those especially for oily skin with acne tendencies)

Use
Apply evenly on the face skin prior to sun exposure. A skin whitening effect may appear upon application due to the mineral filters. The effect disappears in several minutes from application. Reapply plenty of quantities on regular basis (especially after bathing, transpiration or wiping with towel). Keep infants and small babies out of direct sunlight, avoid sun exposure between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. Prolonged sun exposure is dangerous, don’t stay too much in the sun even if you are using a sun protection product. Wear sun protection clothing (hat, sunglasses, T-shirt).

Quick pros and cons:
+ clean and simple packaging
+ no parabens (for those who care, I just don't, read more about them here)
+ hypoallergenic formula
+ no oxybenzone
+ no adverse reactions
+/- slightly white layer after applied (plus for me, but others may not like it)
- contradiction in the information (water resistant but in the info says to reapply after a bath)
- says it contains Shea butter but it's not on the ingredients' list

Detailing:

As usual, let's start with the packaging: I like it! It's clean, simple, I like the colors chosen, very modern. Huge step forward. Could we get the other Farmec face creams in that type of plastic tube pretty please?? ;;) The smell is very minerally, that's the only term I can think about besides earthy (been watching too much Bizarre Foods lately :))) ) but it's not a strong smell and I don't find it disruptive.

Moving on to the formula, it's very important to know that it doesn't contain oxybenzone, ingredient that may cause rashes (as I've recently learned) and after studying the ingredients closely (with the help of this ingredients' dictionary), except for the controversial BHA (do not confuse with beta hydroxy acid - it will never appear like this on the ingredients' list; I don't want to into a discussion about this antioxidant, I think each and everyone should read and decide for itself how they feel about it; my conclusion was that I do not mind it as an ingredients in the creams), all the ingredients are in the green. One of the filters used is micronized titanium dioxide, which is more stable than non micronized, doesn't penetrate the skin, easier to spread and when coated with other elements (alumina, dimethicone, glycerin, silica, and trimethoxy capryl silane) its sun protection properties are improved, it prevents interaction with other ingredients in the presence of sunlight, all in all, its efficiency is improved and eliminates safety concerns.

After 2 months of using it, I have no complaints about this cream. In the short run (protection, prevention of dark spots) it has done its job and I can state that I've put it through a heavy duty test. Few weeks back I went to a RC models enthuthiasts, in a field, where all the protection we had from sunlight were tents (and we all know they don't count that much) and after 2 days in the scorching sun, the correct term to describe my skin was slightly sun kissed. And across my hair line (yes, I know, bad Jully, wearing all that protection and getting sun burned on your head!!! I did wear a hat most of the time, it's a mystery how I managed to get a sun burn across my hair line), you can still see some redness, 1 month from that weekend.

Though some people might not like the thin white layer left behind after first applying the cream because it whitens your face (and you want to look tanned) I loved that because it would even out my skin. So a big plus from me for that. It almost easy to apply, since it's denser, but you have to massage your face really well in order for the skin to penetrate the skin and to avoid white traces on your face.

And although it is written on the box that it is water resistant and perspiration rezistant, in the instructions it says to reapply after a bath or in case of perspiration. It is a clear contradiction and it is not ok. So what is it then? Another thing: though, again, it says on the box that the formula cpntains Shea butter, I didn't find it among the ingredients. This would be all the minuses from my part.

LE: Of course that silly me does a lot of research for the review and doesn't do one simple thing, a search for one ingredient. So, you can find the Shea butter in the ingredients' list under its INCI name: Butyrospermum Parkii Butter. And about its resistance to water, some people may skip reapplying any sun screen after a bath just because they read on the box water resistant even though it is indicated to reapply to ensure the maximum protection.

Conclusion:

Great product, I am pretty sure that I will buy it again, it's one of the products I couldn't go without this summer and I cannot say anything bad about it

Pup!:*
