On Location Travel Essentials,
Core Collection şi
Starter Eye Kit.
- On location Travel Essentials ce curpinde câte o pensulă din fiecare gamă: essential Fondation Brush (din gama Your Base/ Flawless), Multi-task brush (Your Finish/Perfected) şi Domed Shadow Brush (Your Eyes/Enhanced)

EN: It's been awhile since I bought this brush set so I figured it's about time to do a review for it, these are my first, and at the moment the only, Real techniques brushes that I own. i will be telling you some general stuff about the brushes and then talk a little more about each brush and how I used or think of using it.
Before buying this set I read a lot of reviews and thought long and hard which one of the sets will suit my needs best. Obviously, the conclusion was that the Core Collection was what I needed and it also had great reviews. In total, there are 3 brush kits so you can pick and chose whichever seems the perfect for you: the
On Location Travel Essentials, the
Core Collection and the
Starter Eye Kit.
The Core Collection has 4 brushes from the Your Base/Flawless line (more on this later) and they are:
- Detailer brush
- Pointed foundation brush
- Buffing brush
- Contour brush
Besides the brushes you get this great case, perfect to carry the brushes with you on your travels, you can also add some more brushes on the left side, I have added some of the eye brushes that I always use. It also has this neat trick: you can fold it and voila! You have a stander for your brushes.
You can easily notice that these brushes look different than your standard makeup brushes, they look very good and they will surely stand out. Yes, this is not important but they're so pretty, with all the pretty colored handles, I just had to say something.
The ferules are aluminum and much longer compared to the ones on the classic brushes, they're really lightweight the ends are rubberized so you have a good grip and the bristles are synthetic, cruelty free (yay for that!), they're made from taklon fibers and are really soft. Being synthetic, the brushes don't require that much attention as the natural hair ones and you can use the brushes with liquid and cream products as well as powder ones.
They don't loose any bristles during washes and maintain they're shape well, although I always use brush guards for my larger brushes.
Now that we've talk a little about the brushes in general let me tell you about each individual brush in this set and how I have used it:
1. Detailer Brush - is a small flat brush designed just for that: details. I have always used it to apply lipstick and I like it this way but I thought that it could be great to apply concealer in small areas like to cover spots or pimples or maybe for details on your eye makeup, I figured it could be great to apply products under the eye.
2. Pointed Foundation Brush - a flat brush as well, said to be for foundation but it's actually too small for that, it would take you too long to apply foundation allover your face. So, I have used it to set my under eye concealer with powder and it's great and as you've read in this article, I also use it to apply the BHA chemical peel onto my nose and chin. I thought that you can also use it to apply the concealer under your eyes (I have another brush I love to use for that) or to apply a liquid highlighter.
3. Buffing Brush - it's the largest brush of the set, it has a rounded top and I have been using it to apply powder blush with it. I like that it picks up a good amount of product and the way it applies it. I haven't tried it with cream blushes (again, I have another favorite brush for that) and you can also use it to apply liquid or cream foundation, setting powder as well.
4. Contour Brush - a domed brush, kind of small but it;s just amazing and I love it! I use it just for what it's meant: contouring. Because of its smaller size fits perfectly under the cheekbones, it picks up just the right amount the product, applies it uniformly and it blends it perfectly. This is my favorite brush of the set and I'm sure that you didn't even notice that, right? :P
The price of the Core Collection kits (as well as for the other 2 Real Techniques sets) is 18$ on iHerb, a decent price for 4 brushes.
The Real Techniques brushes have been designed in partnership with Samatha Chapman, Sam from Pixiwoo, and they're a more affordable alternative to other, more expensive brushes (Sigma, MAC). As I've told you, all the brushes are synthetic and you can find 3 kits that come with brush cases as well as individual brushes.
All the brushes have a color coded system, according to the line they belong to and there are 3 categories of brushes:
- Your Base/Flawless - a category that includes the brushes from the Core Collection kit and all the brushes have orange ferules. This line also includes some individual brushes: Powder Brush, Foundation Brush and Expert Face Brush.
- Your Eyes/Enhanced - all the brushes have purple ferules and they're mostly designed to be used to do your eye makeup. This line includes: Shading Brush, Lash-Brow Groomer, Fine Liner Brush and Starter Set
- Your Finish/Perfected - the last line of brushes have pink ferules and opposed to the other 2, tehre is no kit, just individual brushes: Stippling Brush, Blush brush, Setting brush and Kabuki Brush
- On location Travel Essentials this is a set that includes one brush from each of the 3 categories: Essential Fondation Brush (Your Base/ Flawless), Multi-task brush (Your Finish/Perfected) şi Domed Shadow Brush (Your Eyes/Enhanced)
The individual brushes have prices that range from 6 to 10$.
